The morning after the night before

Damn this headache
Christmas a joyful time, a time to have fun, get together with friends and framily and have a laugh. Although there are some things that a little carried away, drinking being one of them. You have a little to much to drink ad you dont know how to get ride of that horrid feeling. Well we'll tell you how hangovers occur and how they can be prevented and sorted out.

Dehydration
Alcohol is a diuretic, in other words a drug that increases urination and fluids from the body. Some people assume by drinking a cup of coffee in the morning, will sort that splitting headache out, but no. All it does it makes it worse as coffee is also a diuretic which increases the loss of fluids.

Mild poisons in the drink
Some say that its not the alcohol that gives you the hangover but the molecules that can be found within the alcohol, known as methanol and acetone.

Which Alcohol is worse?
Did you know that Brandy is probably the worst for hangovers? We have comprised a list of few that cause the hangovers, the list is in descending order: red wine, rum, whisky, white wine, gin and vodka. Also according to a British Medical Journal, tests showed drinking bourbon whiskey is twice as likely to cause a hangover than the same amount of vodka.

Too much alcohol
Too much alcohol depletes the body of necessary substances required to stay healthy, these include blood sugar, vitamins and minerals. Above all, it's addictive, once your hooked its hard to let go and can not only destroy your body but your life.

Wine - a bad harvest
Climate plays a big roll for wines produced in countries such as France, Germany and New Zealand. Where the slightest change in climate can make a big difference to the quality of the wine. Bas season wine contains many more substances that cause hangovers. Although that isn't something you'd have control over this Christmas now is it.

HOW TO REDUCE A HANGOVER'S
=================

Eat plenty of food
Having a full stomach when you are drinking helps to slow down the effects of alcohol and reduce the severity of a hangover. Whereas drinking on an empty stomach is one bad for you as the alcohol is absorbed straight into the body causing you to get drunk faster and even make you sick.

Dehydration
To counter alcohol's diuretic effect drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, water or fruit juices. Its easy to forget to drink water when your enjoying yourself but if you don't want that hangover keep your body topped up with something other than alcohol. Do not drink coffee as that is also a diuretic. Also try drinking plenty of water before going to bed. This won't cure any hangover it should help to reduce the dehydration.

Mixing drinks
Try to avoid mixing your drinks as some think that this is the main problem for hangovers. Although there is little evidence to support this view. There is however some that suggests not to mix drinks made from the grape and the grain, ie don't drink wine and whisky. But we can say, if you going to drink pints try and stick to pints, if spirits keep to the spirits.

Exercise
This is a good way to get rid of that unwanted hangover but some may be in no condition to even walk let alone do some vigorous exercise. So force yourself in talking a walk in fresh air, as that can help.

Lots of food
For those who are not feeling queasy eating plenty of food can help. Masochistic types choose the bigger and heavier the breakfast the better. More sensitive types might prefer dry toast.

As we found out, if all above fails, the best alternative is have another pint and keep yourself drunk, you'll avoid those headaches and will continue to live on a all time high. We cant guarantee that youll enjoy it though.

Safe drinking people.
Remember DONT DRINK AND DRIVE, get a cab, taxi or even public transport.

More info

Because alcohol is a liquid we can consume many more calories by sipping it for hours, without ever feeling full. We often mix it with juice or soda which adds even more calories. But perhaps the worst effect alcohol has, on our weight, is that it removes our inhibitions, so we eat and drink much more than we need or plan to.

Has medical science discovered a cure for a hangover?

There is no cure for an alcohol-induced hangover?

Hangovers have been recognized for thousands of years. Typically, one or more of these symptoms are present: headache, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, lack of appetite, tremulousness and a general feeling of being unwell. The causes are not entirely understood and thus the lack of an effective treatment. Several factors probably make a hangover more likely, including larger amounts of alcohol (although hangovers can happen even with relatively small amounts of alcohol), dehydration, lack of sleep or an empty stomach.

Countless remedies have been tried with varying success, although none have rigorous scientific evidence to support them, despite what their proponents may claim. These include certain medications, coffee, glucose, vitamin B6, an herb called Liv.52, tolfenamic acid and over-the-counter pain relievers.

The only certain way to prevent a hangover is to abstain from alcohol. Other preventive strategies include limiting oneself to one or two drinks, alternating alcoholic beverages with nonalcoholic ones to keep hydrated and to slow the rate of alcohol consumption, eating before consuming alcohol and getting plenty of sleep.

Don't try to ease a hangover by drinking more alcohol. Rather, drink plenty of water or juice, eat non-greasy foods and rest.

Some people suggest a sauna, but that could have adverse effects on the heart. Limit use of over-the-counter pain remedies (even Tylenol) to avoid interaction with alcohol.
